Introducing the Cloud Adoption Survey

Thursday, July 26th, 2012

Cloud computing technology has sparked an interest in consumers and businesses in recent years. The technology allows users to share resources, software and information instantly by storing data on a network of remote servers hosted on the internet. Proponents are claiming that adopting cloud computing has allowed their businesses to develop apps faster and those same apps require less maintenance. However, transitioning to cloud technology may bring up security and privacy concerns.

Global Knowledge is conducting an international study on cloud adoption and would appreciate your input. Have you transitioned to cloud computing? Are you hesitant to adopt cloud? This study will examine the perceived features and benefits of the cloud, optimal business cases for cloud adoption, and the degree of alignment between perceived features and an organization’s business case.

The survey will take between 5 – 10 minutes to complete. Participants will also receive a copy of the completed study when results are compiled later in the fall.

Our energy trading training courses provide those necessary skills and more. We detail how organization’s can implement hedge strategy, access the risk profile of their company, better understand the intertwined relationship of fundamentals and future, and more in our seven core energy trading curriculums. Our oil and petroleum training focuses on two basic oil fundamentals: exploration to production and the refining process from basic distillation to complex hydrocracking. We know that the oil industry is complex and international, with economics driving every aspect and every decision. Therefore, our curriculum educates students on upstream risks, downstream economics, and how to manage the volatility on the margin of end users, resellers, traders, marketers, shippers, retailers and refiners. In our natural gas training division we’ve partnered with Energy Management Institute to bring you natural gas training courses that provide a thorough understanding of the entire natural gas industry, from wellhead to burner tip. Two New White Papers for Security Professionals

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

This week we’ve published two new white papers for security professionals: The first, a fascinating look at the question of “counterhacking” as a defensive measure, examines whether hacking back in self-defense is a practical option. If so, what legal issues might come along with such a course of action?

Our second security white paper reviews the most essential updates to the CompTIA Security+ exam and certification, updated last year for the first time since 2008. There are several important shifts in focus associated with the updated certification, and security professionals who currently hold or are seeking the Security+ designation will find this white paper to be a great resource for staying on top of the updated exam.

Today’s two white papers are brought to you in conjunction with Global Knowledge.

New videos: A look inside our courses from the student perspective

Friday, July 20th, 2012

I recently took a trip to the Washington, DC area to film several ASPE classes live. We filmed instructors as they delivered training and interviewed ASPE students to find out how their training experience was unfolding. Responses were great, and over the next few weeks we’re releasing some of these videos to give an inside look at what our training is like and how our trainees are using it.

The first video is a brief conversation with one of our SharePoint Boot Camp students:

Keep an eye on our blog every couple weeks for more inside looks at training and interviews with instructors and students.

Interested in training with ASPE-IT? Check out some of our upcoming courses, both live online and coming to cities near you:

We love to hear from you, and thoughts on these videos or our company are welcome. Email us at training@aspeinc.com or send me a tweet with your thoughts: @chris_knotts.

White Paper Wednesday: VMware vSphere 5.0 – Tools & Info

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

Over the last twelve weeks, we’ve brought you almost fifty white papers on a lot of the topics on which we teach classes every day. A fair portion of those white papers have dealt with virtualization and cloud technologies. We’ve said it before, but the growth in virtualization is impacting IT efficiency and business transformation in ways that merit a lot of attention.

Today our free resources again revolve around virtualization, but the four white papers we’re publishing deal specifically with VMware and their vSphere virtualization products. The most recent version of vSphere (5.0) is VMware’s most advanced virtualization enabler yet, and we have some great information for anyone who is using or just considering utilizing it for their business. These white papers cover:

  • New features of vSphere 5.0
  • Configuration and management tips
  • Troubleshooting tips
  • Ho to use VMware snapshots

Today’s four white papers are brought to you in conjunction with Global Knowledge.
